ILLINOIS COW EARNS TOP HONORS IN THE CENTRAL NATIONAL JERSEY SHOW
MADISON, WISCONSIN – Pine Haven Ssm Marmie, owned by Nic, Jeni, Ben and Andy Sauder of Tremont, Ill., was awarded Grand Champion honors at the 2011 Central National Jersey Show at World Dairy Expo. Marmie was the winning Four-Year-Old cow, Best Udder, and the recipient of the Udder Comfort $1,000 Grand Champion Cash Award. The second place Four-Year-Old Cow, Hillacres Morrae Maryland, exhibited by Budjon Farms and Peter Vail of Lomira, Wis., was named the Reserve Grand Champion.
This year two farms shared the honor for Premier Breeder Arethusa Farm of Litchfield, Conn., and Ratliff Jerseys of Garnett, Ks. and River Valley Farm of Tremont, Ill. was named Premier Exhibitor of the show. Bridon Remake Comerica-ET was named Premier Sire.
Judge Hank Van Exel from Lodi, Calif. and assistant judge Nathan Thomas from Cable, Ohio placed a total of 362 head. Overall show results and top class placings are as follows:
